I love Blackberry Cobbler

I love blackberry cobbler!  As I child I can remember summer dinners of corn on the cob and blackberry cobbler. aaahhh!!!  My mom made the best cobbler!  Picking blackberries was so much fun because we knew that meant cobbler for dinner,  And what child didn't like eating dessert for dinner!!

What is blackberry cobbler to you?  Does your recipe have a biscuit topping or a pie crust? Does it have the fruit on the top or on the bottom?  Do you sweeten your blackberries? Is your cobbler juicy or cake-like?  Each of us has a different idea or memory of how blackberry cobbler should be prepared.  What's yours?

  1. My mom used to make blackberry cobbler all the time too! We have a blackberry vine in our back yard and we'd always be picking from it. Mom made it in a huge casserole pan with the berries and crust equally mixed - neither on top or on bottom so much. It wasn't super liquidy, which I liked because it held up nice. :) I have NEVER made it myself and NEED TO!!!

  2. I always look forward to blackberry picking. The first thing we do with the fresh berries, after eating a few while picking, is to make a blackberry cobbler. We double the amount of berries in the recipe and serve warm with vanilla ice cream. Any leftovers are the breakfast treat the next morning.

  3. I like a pie crust top and lots of berries! Although that means that Steven and I's fingers were purple from picking all the berries with our gallon buckets - "don't come in till your bucket is full". Awww memories :)
